One of Durango’s most popular running races for over 30 years, the Turkey Trot presented by Animas Surgical Hospital is a holiday tradition for the whole family.
Come burn off some calories and work up an appetite before your big meal!
The Turkey Trot features a 5 mile race and a 1 mile fun run. All of the proceeds go to great local charities.

Free! We make the 1-mile kids’ run free to encourage as many kids as possible to run!
Course Info:
The course begins near the clocktower on the Fort Lewis College campus. From there, you will go along Rim Drive, then Goeglein Road, then climb the hill up through the Hillcrest neighborhood, then past the reservoir, behind Hillcrest golf course, and back to the finish line at the clocktower. The course measures just shy of 5 miles.
One aid station with water and Powerade is available on the course at mile 3.3.
Packet Pickup:
Packet pickup is on the morning of the race beginning at 8:45am. Please arrive no later than 9:30 to check in.
Parking:
Ample parking is available for free.
Chip Timing:
We have a professional timing company with results in real time. You can check your results right away at the timing kiosk.
Awards:
Join us at 11:15 in the outdoor amphitheater by the finish line for a gobble contest and prize drawing.
Volunteers:
Volunteers are needed for packet pickup, aid stations, and course marshals.
